Roderick
Soucie
August 24, 1944 – December 22, 2024
Eagle Lake--- Roderick F. Soucie, 80, peacefully entered into rest December 22, 2024, at his home, with his loving family at his side. He was born August 24, 1944, in Winterville, a son of the late Fred and Bernice (Thibodeau) Soucie, and was graduate of Fort Kent High School, Class of 1963.
Following his graduation from high school, Rod relocated to Connecticut where he worked several years with Pratt & Whitney, East Haven. He became the longtime owner and operator of Shoreline Vending Company, Connecticut, and serviced food vending machines all over Connecticut and bordering states, until his retirement in 2005. He and his wife relocated to the family cottage in Winterville and wintered in Florida. Rod was a family man through and through and loved spending every waking moment with his grandchildren. An avid hunter and fisherman, he loved to tour the many woods and waters of the St. John Valley, and almost always had either his daughter or grandchildren in tow. Rod was a craftsman and created many "marble boards" to share with his growing family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Judy (Levesque) Soucie of Eagle Lake; one daughter, Denise Marie Martin and her husband Cyr of Eagle Lake; four siblings, Ronald Soucie and his wife Robbin of Levant, Sandra Soucie, Randy Soucie, both of Florida, and Karen Roy and her husband John of Houlton; a sister-in-law, Carlene Soucie of Winterville; five grandchildren, TJ Granger, Shannon Robichaud and her husband Patrick, Morgan Soucy and her husband Michael, CJ Martin and his wife Brooke, and Jayce Martin; five great grandchildren, Luna, Thea, Marshall, Elio, and Lainey; a special family friend, Tom Granger; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Rod was predeceased by four siblings, Richard Soucie, Norma Pelletier-Vaillancourt, Linda Smith and Carlton Soucie; and siblings-in-law, Richard Vaillancourt, Reynold Pelletier, Kendall Smith, and Lisa Voisine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, January 4, 2024, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Eagle Lake. Spring burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rod's name may be made to: St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
