IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger P.
Charette
July 15, 1941 – March 23, 2022
Madawaska – Roger P. Charette, 80, passed away peacefully at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, Maine on March 23, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Roger was born in Hartford, Connecticut on July 15, 1941, the only child of Alberic and Irene (Bouchard) Charette. Roger was the beloved husband of Juliette (Russell)Charette for 60 years. He was a communicant of the St. David Parish. After high school, Roger joined the army and soon after married his high school sweetheart, Juliette. They together spent two years stationed in Germany, where Roger worked in communications as a decipherer of codes. After an honorable discharge from the army, Roger and Juliette returned to Madawaska, where Roger first worked as an insurance agent and then went to work for Fraser Paper. He started as a 6th hand paper maker on the machines and ultimately retired 36 years later as machine foreman. Roger loved traveling and camping with his family. After retirement, he and Juliette spent many years on camping adventures. When traveling became difficult, Roger purchased lake front property at Bay Creuse, where he so enjoyed spending time with family and friends. One of his great passions was running and spending time in the trails, communing with nature and in contemplative prayer. He even ran a second marathon at the age of 72, to his own amazement. Roger valued friendship and was a man of honesty, true to his word. He was especially generous with his time and resources both with his neighbors and anyone who could use his help. His words of wisdom and devotion to family will be greatly missed. Roger is survived by his wife, Juliette, and four daughters - Monique and husband, John Deschaine; Denise and husband, David St. Jarre; Francine and husband, Joseph Hewitt; Joy and husband, Malachi Pierre; and by 18 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, who will so miss their "Pappy". Visiting hours will be from 6-8pm at Lajoie Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10am at St. David Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, www.st.jude.org . Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
