St. David---Romella M. Cyr, 78, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2012 at a Madawaska health care facility. She was born in St. David on February 21, 1934, daughter of the late Ambroise and Zelia (Morneault) Albert. She was employed by the Madawaska school system until her retirement in 1997. "Chatte" enjoyed spending time at the camp on Long Lake and being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She liked crocheting and working in her flower gardens. "Chatte" is survived by one daughter, Debbie Gendreau and her husband Phil of Madawaska; two sons, Doug Cyr and his wife Elizabeth "Lee" of Madawaska, and Peter Cyr and his companion Karen Albert of Madawaska; eight grandchildren, Nicole, Andrea, Rebecca, Mary, Kevin, Stephanie, Sara, Joey; one great grandson, Quinton; one sister, Bernette Albert of Madawaska; one brother, Renaud Albert of Madawaska; several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Claude "Blackie" Cyr in 1997; two sisters, Patricia and Bernice; one brother, Elmo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Thursday, December 20 at the St. David Church. At the request of the family, there will be no visiting hours.
