Obituary

Madawaska---Romeo Hebert, 87, passed away on February 17, 2024, at a Madawaska health care facility.  He was born in Madawaska on June 19, 1936, son of the late Emile and Alma (Guerrette) Hebert.  Romeo was married to his first wife, Viola (Pelletier) Hebert for forty-five years, and his second wife, Viola (Michaud) Hebert for nineteen years.  He worked for Fraser Paper for thirty-nine years, with twenty-nine years in management.  He started at the mill right after high school, retiring in 1993.  He really enjoyed basketball, Boston Celtics being his favorite team.  He was on the Madawaska School Board for a number of years.  He loved gardening, and his plot of eschelots was very special to him.  Family being of utmost importance to Romeo, he always put them first.  His guidance and support was always well received by his children and grandchildren.  He is survived by two children, Diane Michaud and her husband John of St. Agatha; Kevin Hebert of Frenchville and his companion, Don Pelletier of Edmundston; his daughter-in-law, Sandra Hebert of Madawaska; four grandchildren, Eric, Mathew, Cassie, Sarah; two great grandchildren, Natalie, and Emerson; four step children, Beatrice, Rachel, Daniel, Michael; six step grandchildren, Ken, Matthew, Breana, Chantel, Benjamin, Lori; seven step great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Madison, Elise, Ophelia, Nikoli, William, V, Genevieve; two siblings, Robert Hebert  and his wife Jeannine of St. David, Roberta Labrie and her husband Danny of St. Agatha; many nieces and nephews.  Romeo was predeceased by his first wife, Viola (Pelletier) Hebert; his second wife, Viola (Michaud) Hebert; two sons, Gary and Brian Hebert; four brothers, Berthier, Norman, Reginald, and Philip.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the St. David Church.  A receiving line will be held in the back of the church from 9am until 9:45am before the Mass on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ridgewood Activity Department, 480 Ridgeview Ave., Madawaska, ME 04756.
