Eagle Lake--- Ronald J. Laferriere, 87, passed away August 28, 2026, at a Fort Kent hospital, with his family at his side. He was born September 11, 1938, in Eagle Lake, a son of the late Adelard and Victoria (Duprey) Laferriere and the loving husband of almost 66 years of Carolyn (Reddin) Laferriere.

Ron relocated to Connecticut as young man and worked several years before enlisting with the US Air Force. He served honorably for several years in Japan before returning to Connecticut and worked at Newington Centerless Grinding Co. almost his entire life, retiring in 1999. He was also a former volunteer with the Portland, CT Fire Department and their star player for their softball and bowling teams. He and his wife returned to their beloved St. John Valley, where they built their retirement home on Eagle Lake. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, Post #176, Eagle Lake. Ron loved playing cards and could spend hours into the evening with family and Cribbage or strumming his guitar and singing the night away. He also loved taking to the woods and waters to get in his fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Laferriere of Eagle Lake; three children, Robin Laferriere of Connecticut, Cathy Cote of Eagle Lake, and Mark Laferriere and his wife Kelly of Massachusetts; three siblings, Donald Laferriere and his wife Madeline, Dana Laferriere, all of Eagle Lake, and Lucille Reinkendorff of Florida; three grandchildren, Jenna, Kaytlyn, and Ryan; one great granddaughter, Luna May; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by seven siblings.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Mary’s Church, Eagle Lake. Interment with military honors will follow in the parish cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent.
