St. Francis – Ronald J. Lavertu, 67, of St. Francis, Maine, passed away unexpectedly, November 17, 2017. He was born March 22, 1950, in Van Buren, Maine, a son of the late Oneil & Delphine (Cote) Lavertu.

Ron worked many years at Fraser Paper in Madawaska. Since then, he had been enjoying retirement at his 'hunting camp' by the river.  An avid outdoorsman: hunter, fisherman, and gardener, Ron also enjoyed reading, woodworking, and beekeeping. He will be greatly missed by the countless family members and friends whose lives he touched, and affectionately remembered as one who treasured time with his children and grandson.

He is survived by two children, Scott Lavertu, and Danielle Lavertu (Nathan Downing), and one grandson, Jasper Downing, all of Carrabassett Valley, ME; twelve siblings, Carmen Lavertu, Rella Bezzanilla, Gerald Lavertu, Roger (Martha) Lavertu, Joel Lavertu, Edgar (Clauda) Lavertu, Rachel (Bert) Bosse, Dolores (Nelson) Jambard, Clarence (Wayne) Lavertu, Claudette (Philip) Michaud, Richard Lavertu, and Daniel Lavertu; several nieces and nehews; and companion, Carolyn Gardner, of Allagash.

Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by one sibling, Patricia (Al) Gendreau.
