Fort Kent--- Ronald Rosaire Nadeau, 86, passed away under the gentle care of the staff at Forest Hill Manor. Ronald was born in 1939 and raised in St. Francis, Maine, to Patrick and Essie Nadeau.
He had a brilliant mind and took great pride in being not only a woodsman and crane operator, but also an engineer who helped build multiple bridges and miles of roads. He loved hunting and fishing in the woods, brooks, and lakes of northern Maine. A practical joker, Ron delighted in sharing stories with a crooked smile and a blue-eyed twinkle. His most endearing quality, however, was his love for his wife, Lorraine Picard Nadeau. They always placed each other on a pedestal. Though their separation is difficult, the strong faith they shared provides comfort in knowing that he is truly in a better place.
Ron was preceded in death by his siblings, Patricia Albert, Valeric Nadeau, Gene Perreault, Vernal Nadeau, and Dawn Clavette, all of St. Francis, Maine.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 67 years, Lorraine Picard Nadeau; his children, Dale Nadeau and wife Wendy Winslow of New Bern, North Carolina; Lynn Cyr and husband Dennis Cyr of Fort Kent, Maine; Steve Nadeau and wife Beth Nadeau of Raymond, Maine; and Glenn Nadeau and wife Darcy Nadeau of Mapleton, Maine. Ron was the proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren: Pamela Hawks of New Hampshire; Jordan Nadeau and wife Ashlyn of New Hampshire; Edward Winslow and wife Yuki of Japan; Charles Winslow of Oregon; Kayleigh Cyr of Georgia; Davis Cyr of Fort Kent; Lora Albert and husband Jordan of Madawaska; Devon Cyr of Fort Kent; Kelsey Noyes and husband Ryan of Saco, Maine; Tyler Nadeau and wife Erin of California; Jarron Nadeau and wife Schyler Folsom of Portland, Maine; Maelah Nadeau of Illinois; Heather Nadeau of Nova Scotia; and Troy Nadeau of California. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Demi Albert, Julian Albert, Odette Lorraine Nadeau, and Quinn Nadeau, as well as, special nieces and nephews, you know who you are.
A Mass and Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Charles Catholic Church, 912 Main Street, St. Francis, Maine. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, 139 East Main Street, Fort Kent, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Hill Manor in Fort Kent, Maine, or to Special Olympics of Maine. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E Main Street, Fort Kent, ME.
