Madawaska---Rose Aimee Martin Burke, 85, passed away November 4, 2013 at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born in St. Basile, New Brunswick on June 29, 1928, daughter of the late Louis and Cecile (Corbin) Martin. She worked as a registered nurse in New York, California, Hawaii, and Missouri. She enjoyed gardening and doing housework. Rose is survived by her loving husband of eleven years, William Burke of Madawaska; seven sisters, Therese Rouillard of Florida, Yolande Sylvain and her husband Leonard of Connecticut, Aurore Proulx of Edmundston, Louiselle Theriault and her husband Guy of Moncton, Mariette Konscol of New Jersey, Edmay Desjardins and her husband Jacques of New Hampshire, Alberte Plourde and her husband Germain of St. Basile; two brothers, Romeo Martin and his wife Gloria of Connecticut, Real Martin and his wife Rejeanne of Grand Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10am on Friday, November 8, 2013 at the St. David Church. Family and friends may call at Lajoie Funeral Home from 6-8pm on Thursday and from 9-9:30am on Friday before the Service. Interment will be held immediately following the service in the Parish cemetery.
