Obituary

Madawaska---Sally Jane (Thibodeau) Gagnon, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 11, 2021, in Madawaska, Maine.  Born on September 24, 1938, in Edmundston, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Antoinette (Ouellette) Thibodeau.  Sally spent her childhood in Old Orchard Beach with many fond memories of summer days at the beach before moving to Madawaska with her mother following her father's passing.  In Madawaska, she immersed herself in the community, made friends who became family, and met her loving husband and companion of 61 years, Gerald Gagnon.  Sally loved her family most of all and often reminisced fondly of raising her three children, summering on Long Lake, and taking annual fishing trips to Allagash with her entire family.  In addition to the love she had for her family, Sally will also be remembered for the way she cared for others. She was dedicated to her work at Aroostook Mental Health Center's Valley Social Club, where she cared and cooked for clients like they were her family.  The people she served held a very special place in her heart.  Sally was happiest hosting her family for Sunday lunch, working in her flower beds, laughing with her children and grandchildren, and line dancing with her very dear friends.  Saturday evenings were for dancing and you could be sure to see Sally alongside her friends dancing to Guy's Johnson's rendition of "Mustang Sally," one of her favorite songs!  Sally was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Gerald; her brother, Leslie Thibodeau; her twin sister, Sally Ann, and her grandson, John Gagnon.  Sally leaves behind her three children, Michelle Dubord and her husband Clayton of Vassalboro and their children Erica Cyr, Benjamin Dubord, and Ian Dubord; Gregory Gagnon of Madawaska and his children Jesica Minor and Savannah Gagnon; and Kellie Bosse and her husband Bruce of Madawaska and their children Kathryn Bosse and Jillian Bosse.  Sally also leaves behind six great grandchildren whom she adored, several nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends whom she held near and dear to her heart.  A celebration of Sally's life will take place at a later date to be determined.  Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Northern Light Hospice, 50 Foden Rd, South Portland, ME  04106 or the Alzheimer's Association of Maine.
