IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shelby Kate
Condon
February 6, 1996 – January 11, 2020
Ashland, Maine & Atlanta, Georgia--- Shelby Kate Condon, 23, passed away January 11, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Shelby's story began on February 6, 1996, in Ashland, Maine. The oldest daughter of Troy Condon and Tammy (Butler) Getchell, her loving family grew to include her sister, Lacy Condon, step-father Richard "Daddy Rick" Getchell, and Nicole Fournier . She enjoyed an adventurous childhood with siblings Brandon, Amber, Brett, Hannah and Alexis. Shelby was excited to later add Brandon's wife, Chelsea, to her circle of sisters. She was a proud auntie to nephew Perry, and nieces Faith, Dani, and Charlotte.
She had her Grammy and Grampy, Chester "Ted" and Frances Condon, as well as Mémère and Papa, James "Jim" and Marilyn Butler, wrapped around her sweet little finger. She was Daddy Troy's "Sunshine," Daddy Rick's "Squirrel," Mumma's "Woo," Grammy's "Precious," and "Princess" to all. As she would say, she had a "butt-load of aunts, uncles, and cousins".
All who knew Shelby as a little girl remember her thick curly hair, her big brown eyes, and her love for Barney. A beanie baby turtle purchased at the grocery store stole her heart away from Barney and started a lifelong obsession with anything turtle. She went on many family trips and travels where she managed to always be the center of attention, usually by instigating hooligan shenanigans, well documented in endless photos and videos. When she was behaving, she loved to dress up, scrapbook, and craft things with her Mémère.
In school, Shelby took an interest in alpine skiing, track, and cross-country running, where she placed in the top ten in many of her races. She spent her summers at Camp Nomacca, where she learned many songs and sang them with her sisters around the campfire.
She started a job at Bonanza and soon impressed everyone with her incredible work ethic and the pride she took in the simplest of tasks. She was friendly, dependable, enjoyed serving people, and her customers looked forward to going back to visit her as one of their favorites.
In 2017, her dreams of becoming a city girl finally came true when she moved to Atlanta, Georgia. She enjoyed every part of her trip down I-95 and sent pictures home as she became an official Georgia Peach. She became a proud mom to Parker, her German Shepherd Husky mix, and to her energetic kitties, Pepper, Max and Willow. Showing off her obnoxiously, ginormous cat tower after adopting Willow, she confirmed with family that she was, in fact, a Cat Lady in her twenties.
On January 11, 2020, Shelby's beautiful, short life with us ended due to complications from a brief illness.
