New Canada—Shirley Jean (Gagnon) Pelletier, 86, passed peacefully on July 6, 2021 at a Fort Kent health care facility. She was born on December 14, 1934 in Guerrette Maine, daughter of the late Eddie and Delphine (Dube) Gagnon. She was an Aroostook RSVP hospice volunteer for 20 years, and served as a volunteer custodian at Holy Family Parish Church in New Canada. She also volunteered at the Good Shepherd Ministries, was a Eucharistic Minister, and was part of the Prayer Line Ministry. Shirley enjoyed helping the senior citizens in New Canada by providing transportation and cooking meals. She is survived by her husband Edmund Pelletier, who she married on May 10, 1955. She is survived by five children, Debbie Ottinger, Jan Bouchard (Mike), Doreen Daigle (Ronald), Steven Pelletier, Paula Brown (Scott); five grandchildren, Stephanie Graner (Pete), Mitchell Daigle (Amanda), Joshua Daigle (Charissa), Andrew Brown, Austin Brown (Hope Renee); six great-grandchildren, Braiden, William, Henry, Madelyn, Leon, Duncan; one sister, Blanche Pelletier who she considered her best friend; one brother Alan Gagnon. Shirley is predeceased by three brothers, Wilbert, Lawrence, and Willard Gagnon; three sisters, Lorenza Lagasse, Emily Cloutier and Theresa Cummings. The family would like to thank Aroostook + Valley Home Health, St. Joseph Memory Care, Crosswinds, and Forest Hill Manor for the wonderful care they provided for Shirley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Monday, July 12, 2021 at St. Louis church.
