Van Buren--- Solange Castonguay, 72, peacefully entered into rest November 12, 2021, following a brief period of declining health. She was born April 23, 1949 in Edmundson, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Gerard and Cecile (Michaud) Martin.

Solange last worked providing home healthcare for many years, caring for the residents of Van Buren. She also worked a short time for Borderview Manor, Van Buren and former Simplex, Gardner, MA. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and a devoted member of the Columbiettes and American Legion Auxiliary. During her younger years, she loved spending time with her husband or tending to her painting and crafts. She loved to cook and made a delightful creton, her family's favorite. She adored visiting her grandchildren, whether she was visiting Massachusetts, or her grandchildren came to visit the County.

She is survived by: two sons, David Castonguay and his wife Shirley of Lakeland, FL, and Gregg Castonguay and his fiancée Alisha Gagne of Hubbardston, MA; two siblings, Paul Martin and Lynne Gonzalez, both of Gardner, MA; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one on the way; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Solange was predeceased by her husband of over 55 years, Pierre Castonguay in 2018, a son Gary Castonguay in 1992, and two brothers, Jean-Yves and Francis Martin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, December 3, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Main St., Van Buren. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
