Madawaska/Virginia---Sr. Mary June Morin D.W. died peacefully on Friday morning, February 7, 2014 at Maryview Medical Center in the heart center surrounded by her Sisters, friends, and caring staff. Sr. Mary June was born on March 24, 1933 in Madawaska to Charles and Melvina Clavette Morin. She graduated from Madawaska High School in 1951. Sr. Mary June knew what she wanted to be, she resisted and questioned it, but in the end, her mind was made up and she never looked back. On February 2, 1952, Mary June made her profession of Vows as a Sister, a Woman religious in the International Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom. Her life journey was centered on the Mystery on God's loving Presence in her life and Ministries. It was out of this God's Presence that she exercised her mission, especially in her 51 years of service to the children of Saint Mary's Home for Disabled Children, serving as the Director of Activities. Sr. Mary June started her ministry at Saint Charles Hospital in Brooklyn New York 1953-1960. In February 1960, Mary June arrived in Norfolk and exclaimed, "Lord have mercy, what is this." She then entered the decript building on Chapel Street in downtown Norfolk that was five decades, two buildings, thousands of children ago. Sr. Mary June ministered at Saint Mary's Home for 51 years, the last of the Daughters of Wisdom serve there. She retired in February 2011 and continued to volunteer several times a week. "This is not an institution" she said, "We really try to make a home." She is survived by her brother, Ronaldo Morin; sister, Patricia Soucy and her husband Gilbert; sister-in-law, Doreen Morin all of Madawaska; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her Sisters in Community in the Daughters of Wisdom in the USA Province and beyond. She was predeceased by her mother and father, five brothers, Alcide Cyr, Roland Morin, Edgar Morin, Donald Jos. Morin, and Lucien Morin; four sisters, Eva Albert, Fernande Albert, Alphena Morin, and Lorraine Guerrette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church. There will be no visiting hours. Spring interment will take place in the Parish Cemtery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home in Madawaska.
