IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen G.
Martin
June 29, 1949 – August 27, 2020
Limestone--- Stephen G. Martin, 71, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020, at Aroostook House of Comfort, following a brief battle with cancer. He was born June 29, 1949 in Van Buren, a son of the late Lionel and Janet (Morrow) Martin.
After graduating from Van Buren District School in 1967, Stephen attended the University of Maine, Orono, majoring in Physical Education and was a Signa Nu Fraternity Brother. He joined the US Department of Justice, working as a Border Patrol Agent, and was assigned to protect California borders. After many years, he returned to Maine and took an early retirement so he could spend more time with his golfing passion. He will always remember playing golf with his uncles at the historic St. Andrews Golf Club in Scotland. He also enjoyed watching college and pro football and basketball, but his primary sports team was his beloved New York Yankees. Stephen always made sure his relatives received a Yankees hat or shirt. He also enjoyed playing cards late into the evening, especially poker.
He will be sorely missed by: his brother Colin Martin and his wife Theresa Morris of Falmouth; his three sisters, Janna Griffith and her husband Bill of Fernandina Beach, FL, Robin St. Germain and her husband Robert of Wilmington, NC, and Marie Coyne and her husband Thaddeus of Indianapolis, IN; and nephews and niece, Conor Martin of Westbrook, and William and Sarah Griffith of Fernandina Beach, FL.
Funeral services were private and at the convenience of the family. Burial was in the family lot in Grand River Cemetery, Van Buren. Arrangements were a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
