Madawaska--- Sylvio A. Saucier, 90, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026 at Forest Hill Manor with family by his side. Sylvio was born in Wallagrass, Maine on September 30, 1935 to the late Ronaldo and Yvonne (Plourde) Saucier.

Sylvio worked at Cole’s Express Trucking Company as a driver and foreman for 30 years and part-time for Albert Farms Trucking in his retirement. He was a proud member of the Maine National Guard from 1952-62. At 40 years of age, Sylvio made a conscious decision to become physically fit, excelling in running, biking, cross country and downhill skiing and roller blading. He was an avid hunter, a competitive archer and self-taught guitar player. A man of strong faith, his legacy, talents and teachings will live on through his children and grandchildren. Time spent hunting with his grandson Troy and former son-in-law Dennis Pelletier were cherished moments. Sylvio is known for his loving, soft-spoken, kind and genuine nature—a heart of gold.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, George-Emile Saucier and Joseph Saucier.

Sylvio is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mabeline (Jandreau) Saucier; his children, Glenn (Helen) Saucier of Oro Valley, AZ; Lisa (Don) Lebel of Fort Kent; Connie Eckerle and her partner Kevin McCarthy of Jupiter, FL; Tammy (Jon) Oplinger of Portland, ME; Keith Saucier (Scott St. Cyr) of Palm Springs, CA. His grandchildren Corey Pelletier, Troy (Amanda) Pelletier, Alison and Michael Eckerle, Logan and Julia Oplinger and his great grandchildren Parker and Jackson Pelletier as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister Doris Nadeau of Caribou and special brother-in-law and sister-in-law Donald and Winn Charette. A heartfelt thanks to Winn for leading the Rosary and for her constant support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 21 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 337 St. Thomas St, Madawaska, ME 04756. Burial will follow at St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent, ME at 2:00 PM. There will be no visitation hours.
