Obituary

Madawaska--- Theo R. Cyr, 85, peacefully passed away and into the loving arms of his late wife on October 9, 2025, following a short illness, at a Caribou healthcare facility. He was born February 29, 1940 in Notre Dame de Lourdes, NB, Canada, a son of the late Francis and Ernestine (Michaud) Cyr.

Theo married the love of his life, Marguerite Theriault, and relocated to central Connecticut. He worked over 34 years for GE, Plainville, until his retirement in 2002, and he relocated his family to the St. John Valley and Canada to be closer to his family. Theo was an avid gardener and grew a variety of vegetables in his yard. He was also an avid walker and would tour Madawaska almost daily.

He is survived by two sons, Alan Cyr and his wife Debbie of Connecticut, and Steve Cyr of Van Buren; two granddaughters, Monique and Christina; a great grandson, Jay; siblings, Onile Cyr and his wife Gaetane, Marc Cyr and his wife Mona, Gerald Cyr, Nicole Aubin, Laurette Desjardins and her husband Eric, Huguette Cyr, and Francoise Lebel

Besides his parents, Theo was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marguerite (Theriault) Cyr in 2022, and siblings Roland Cyr, Jeannine Morneault, Rina Cyr, Rino Cyr, and Mathieu Cyr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 PM on Monday, October 20, 2025, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Madawaska. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday evening 6 – 8:00 PM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 114- 10th Ave., Madawaska. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
