IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Theresa Constance
(Tardif) Pelletier
March 14, 1933 – May 2, 2022
Madawaska / Bangor—Theresa Constance Pelletier, 89, March 14, 1933 – May 2, 2022. On May 2nd, 2022 heaven gained an angel, but we lost the matriarch of our family. Theresa Constance Pelletier was born on March 14, 1933, in St. Leonard, New Brunswick, the daughter of Frank and Beatrice Tardif.
In 1952, she met the love of her life, Roland Pelletier. After a very brief courtship, Roland fell head over heels in love with "la belle Theresa" and they were married in December of that year. Theresa often spoke of how she prayed to be blessed with four daughters and two sons, and that's exactly the family she raised in Madawaska.
Theresa valued her family above all else in this world. She and Roland worked hard to provide their children not only with the necessities of life but gave them a stable foundation filled with opportunities. She was assertive, loyal, tenacious, and driven by a sense of integrity. She didn't hesitate to speak her mind. She was successful at everything she tried and passed on invaluable life lessons about, hard work, big dreams, and the significance of a tight-knit family unit.
Theresa was employed at Zayre's and Ames department stores, working her way up the ranks to become jewelry department manager. Theresa also volunteered a great deal of time to her love of pageantry. She touched the lives of countless young girls and women for more than twenty years, as director of the Little Miss Madawaska, Miss Northern Maine, and Miss New England American pageants. She was awarded the Volunteer of the Year accolade by the Miss Maine Scholarship Organization and was named Citizen of the Year by the Optimist Club in Madawaska, for her dedication to the empowerment of young women.
Glamour and class are two words to describe Theresa. She loved to be fashionable always making sure her make-up and hair were on point. Even at 89, you could find her wearing the latest styles while out shopping or having dinner with her family. Theresa loved to have fun and family gatherings were forever her greatest joy. She was a remarkable cook and always made sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink. She had an amazingly strong spirit that will live through her 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Theresa is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Roland, and her son Herman. She is survived by her son Ricky and his wife Elaine of Madawaska, ME, her daughters Linda Propheter and her husband Fred of Walkersville, MD, Brenda Pollock and her husband David of Saco, ME, Karen Lavoie and her husband Rino of Madawaska, ME and Sharon Ayer and her husband Herbert of Bangor, ME.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in the town of Madawaska, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 10am.
