Van Buren--- Venette M. Martin, 87, peacefully entered into rest Monday, August 3, 2020, at a Van Buren healthcare facility, with her family at her side. She was born July 28, 1933 in Drummond, NB, Canada, a daughter of the late Arthur and Therese (Pelletier) Rioux.
Venette worked as a CNA at Borderview Manor for over 22 years. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and an active life-member of the Columbiettes, Van Buren. During her younger years, Venette enjoyed making ceramic projects and bowling. Overall, she cherished being a devoted wife to her husband and a loving mother to her children.
She is survived by: three children, Anne-Marie Trohanovsky (Tom) of Brook Park, OH, William Martin (Carolyn) of Auburn, and Peter Martin of Dallas, TX; one sister, Verna Sokolowski of Barrie, Ontario; three grandchildren, Ben, Dustin, and Chelsea; six great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Venette was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Peter B. Martin in 2011,, and eleven siblings, Norman Rioux, Rita Blanchette, Elmaras Rioux, Eduard Rioux, Anne "Blanche" Beaulieu, Adrian Rioux, Isadore Rioux, Yvette Bell, Lorianne Theriault, Bertin Rioux, and Antonia McLaughlan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Burial with her late husband, Peter, will be in Grand River Cemetery. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
