Fort Kent- Verna H. Daigle, 84, died peacefully April 20, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Fort Kent on March 18, 1934, the daughter of Willie and Hattie White.
Verna graduated as salutatorian from Fort Kent High School, Class of 1952. She started her work career at Northern Maine National Bank, then worked for Administration District 27 (MSAD #27), under Superintendent Paul Kelly. Verna then worked in the business office of UMFK, retiring in 1991 after 25 years of service.
Verna married Edmund Daigle of Soldier Pond on September 6, 1954 and celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in 2004. She was predeceased by her husband Ed in 2007 after 54 years of marriage.
Verna enjoyed snowmobiling and playing Charlie with her in-laws, She never met a golden retriever puppy that didn't steal her heart. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
she is survived by her daughter Kimberly Daigle of Sanford, Me. Two Sons; Dale Daigle of Limestone, Me. and Scott and wife Donna Daigle of Fort Kent. Verna's only grandchild, who has always held a special place in her heart, Rebecca L. Martin currently of Wasilla, Alaska. She is also survived by two sisters; Kathleen Holmes of Las Vegas, NV and Mildred Waters of Des Moines, Iowa, and by many sisters and brothers-in-law as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 am Wednesday , June 20, 2018, at St. Louis Catholic Church, Fort Kent, Committal services will follow in the parish cemetery, Those who wish in Verna's memory may donate to the Edgar J Paradis Cancer Fund, 194 East Main St. Fort Kent, Me. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, Fort Kent.
