Van Buren--- Verna M. Gagnon, 78, passed away peacefully March 25, 2021, at a Caribou hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 1, 1942 in Hamlin, a daughter of the late Fred and Jeannette (Masse) Cyr.

Verna last worked as a CNA at Borderview Manor, Van Buren, for over 30 years. Previously she worked at Van Buren Secondary School, where she adored interacting with many students over the years. She enjoyed cooking for her family, especially cherishing her times together at family gatherings. She loved her annual trips to Connecticut with her siblings, playing cards with friends, family, and especially with her grandchildren.

She is survived by: her beloved husband of over 56 years, Donald W. Gagnon of Van Buren; three children, Donna Bilodeau of Exeter, Dana Gagnon and his wife Donna of W. Kingston, RI, and Debbie Gendreau and her husband Kevin of Hampden; six grandchildren, Corbin & Gabrielle Bilodeau, Brandon & Zachary Gagnon, and Andrew & Derek Gendreau; three siblings, Rita Cyr of Hartford, CT, Lillian Ouellette of Van Buren, and Russ Cyr and his wife Sylvia of Millinocket; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Verna was predeceased by brothers, Herbert and Maynard Cyr, and sisters, Noella Ouellette and Carlene Herbert.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Main St., Van Buren. Interment will be in Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Arrangements are a service of Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
