Van Buren --- Vinal Roy, 90, passed away on July 10, 2019 at a Van Buren healthcare facility. He was born in Van Buren on October 7, 1928, son of the late Edmund and Cecile (Morin) Roy. Vinal attended Van Buren schools and has been a lifelong resident of Van Buren. He was a communicant of St. Bruno- St. Remi Church. He began work at the very young age of 14, working for many area farmers and later for construction and plumbing companies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his retirement, his garden was his pride and joy, giving many of his vegetables to family and friends. In August 1950, he married Irene (Levesque) Roy and they were married for 62 years. Together they raised seven children. He is survived by two daughters, Ancilla McElhinny and husband Michael of Kathleen, GA, and Lorna Ouellette and husband Wayne of Van Buren; five sons, Clayton Roy and wife Marcia of Lewiston, Daniel Roy of Bangor, Kenneth Roy and wife Betty, Rick Roy and companion Lisa, and Lee Roy all of Van Buren; 10 Grandchildren, Elliot, Stephanie, Eric, Jason, Vicky, Ashley, Lucas, Caleb, Bradlee, and Shawn; 11 great-grandchildren, Miranda, Nathan, Samuel, Sofia, Madison, Sydney, Abbigail, Isabelle, McKenzie, Alexander and Bryson; three Brothers, Alban of Hamlin, Lorn of Oregon, and Herbert of Connecticut. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene in 2013; two daughters who died in infancy; and siblings, Claude, Gilbert, Herman, and Joan. In keeping with Vinal's wishes, there will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on August 12, 2019 at Lajoie Funeral Home in Van Buren.
