IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Violet
Daigle
October 3, 1945 – June 15, 2025
Fort Kent—Violet I. Daigle said goodbye to all her family and friends on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle, Maine, at the age of 79. She was the daughter of Alcide and Gertrude Daigle.
Violet was an alumna of UMFK and earned a bachelor's degree in education. She began a praiseworthy career as an elementary teacher for the Fort Kent School System. In addition to subject matter, Violet modeled kindness, respect, and instilled values and principles that would lead to honorable adults. With innate leadership skills, she became principal of the Wallagrass Elementary School.
Vi, as she was most often referred to, was also a devoted sister, aunt, and friend. Her genuine care and love for others were evident in every interaction. Her home was always open to family and to friends. Vi loved food and cooking. If you were graced to have dinner at Vi's, you had incomparable feasts. Her famous chicken stew after midnight Mass at Christmas was always a family favorite. She was also a huge addict of history, but she lifted everybody's spirits with local historical tales she told with great humor. With an enthusiasm for life in general, she brought delight to all who crossed her path. She loved spontaneous adventures and enjoyed a full life overlooking the rolling St. John River. Violet leaves an extraordinary legacy of loyal friendships, kindness, love, and respect for all who have touched her life. She has found serenity as she flies with the doves of peace.
Violet is survived by a brother, Laurel Daigle of Fort Kent; twin sisters, Wilma Petabella from Houlton and Velma Boucher from Plainville, CT, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, brothers Elroy, Sherman, and Vernal; sisters Bernadette, Juliette, and Romana.
The family is especially grateful to Phyllis Perreault for her friendship. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PAWS Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 94, Fort Kent Mills, ME 04744.
There will be a graveside service Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 1PM at the St. Louis Cemetery in Fort Kent, Maine.
