Frenchville---Walter Lavoie, 92, peacefully left us on May 31, 2025, at Ridgewood Estates in Madawaska. He was the husband of Cecile (Pelletier) Lavoie for 72 years. He was born in St. Agatha on March 25, 1933, to Fortunat and Phoebe (Thibeault) Lavoie. Walter was a man of simple words and hardworking. He was employed for 35 years as a dairy, potato, and wheat farmer for Gerard Raymond Farms, and then the Maine Department of Transportation for eleven years. Walter loved being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a great provider for his family. After retirement, Walter and Cecile loved to go dancing and dressed up in a suit and tie for these occasions. He enjoyed going to McDonald's for his fries, Tim Horton's coffee, taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens, and pampering his car. He is survived by his wife Cecile and their children, Mary Ann (Edmund) Parent, Nancy Dionne (Jean) Ouellette, Diane (Don) Lavoie, Charlene (Dicky) Daigle, Carol (Roger) Gervais, Michael (Lisa) Lavoie, Gary (Karen) Lavoie, Jerry (Judy) Lavoie; Lisa (Dana) Martin, Steven (Denise) Lavoie; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; one brother, Adrian; three sisters, Elsie, Yvette, Patsy; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fortunat and Phoebe (Thibeault) Lavoie; his brothers, Roland, Roger, Leo; his sisters, Irene, Germaine, and Linda; son-in-law, Gerald Dionne. The family would like to thank the hardworking staff at Ridgewood Estates for taking great care of Walter.
