Grand Isle—William Hassell, 71, passed away on April 15, 2021 at his home. He was born on July 2, 1949, son of the late James and Charlena (Gifford) Hassell. Bill worked at Fraser Paper for 35 years where he retired as a Beater Engineer. During retirement Bill enjoyed spending his time at the camp with his family. You would often find Bill on his tractor working to maintain and enhance the landscape, great care and pride came from his hours of hard work. Bill had a sentimental heart that cherished his family. While he worked hard, he would stop what he was doing to reminisce. During his down time Bill enjoyed reading and riding ATV with his wife. Bill is survived by his loving wife Rena (Ouellette) Hassell, married for 50 years this October. Two children, Jennifer Graham and her husband Michael of East Machias, Benjamin Hassell and his wife Jennifer of Grand Isle; one brother, Clifford Hassell of Michigan; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nickolas Graham, and Alexander and Ethan Hassell; along with many nieces and nephews. Bill is predeceased by his parents James and Charlene (Gifford) Hassell. The family has decided to have a private celebration of life at their convenience.
