Obituary

Van Buren--- Yvette Rita Stewart, 97, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at a Van Buren healthcare facility. She was born May 17, 1918 in Van Buren, the youngest child of the late Henry and Victoria (Martin) Saucier. She was a 1935 graduate of Sacred Heart School, Van Buren and University of Maine, Fort Kent, and attended University of Maine, Machias.

Yvette taught Kindergarten and first grade classes in Van Buren for several years before she married and started her family. She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bruno-St. Remi Church and a lifetime member of the Daughters of Isabella, a past member of the St. Bruno Choir and the Lioness Club. It was always important for Yvette to enjoy special time with her family, especially many wonderful Christmas Celebrations. Her family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Borderview Rehab and Living Center for their dedicated care and support they offered Yvette and her family.

She is survived by: two daughters, Kathleen Beaulieu and her husband Robert of Van Buren and Cynthia "Cindy" Martel and her husband Donald "Bear" of Auburn; grandchildren, Jeffrey Beaulieu and his wife Staci of Milo, Jill Doucette and her husband John of Van Buren, Mark Stewart and his wife Nichole of Oakland, and Tracy Barnies and her companion Richard Grenier of Auburn; great grandchildren Gage Doucette of Auburn, Madisyn & Landon Stewart of Oakland; step-grandchildren; Tristan & Colin Beckett of Milo; a sister-in-law, Betty Allain of Madison; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Yvette is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Richard "Dick" Stewart in 1999, a daughter Dorothy "Dottie" Stewart in 2007, and three siblings, Loretta Saucier, Alda Soucy and Alberic Saucier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Saturday morning 9-10:30AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren. In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvette's name may be made to: St. Bruno-St. Remi Choir, c/o Kathleen, 123   Poplar St., Van Buren, ME 04785.
