Madawaska---Yvon L. Dufour, 90, was reunited with the love of his life, Norma, when he passed away on April 23, 2022, at a Madawaska health care facility.  He was born in Madawaska on April 9, 1932, son of the late Cyrille and Aurore (Dumond) Dufour.  Yvon was a Korean War veteran and a lifetime member of the Thomas O. Cyr Post #147 of the American Legion.  One of his favorite hobbies was woodworking and was proud of all the projects he did, especially for the Post.  He was also a well-known mechanic for Acadia Motors for over thirty-five years, as well as a master gardener, especially his shallots.  Yvon is survived by his two daughters, Sonia Tardif and her husband Donald of Madawaska, Sandra Gagnon and her husband Roger of St. Basile, NB; three grandchildren who he adored and was so very proud of, Rene Gagnon (Josee Fournier) of St. Basile, NB, Chantal Gagnon (Serge Morin) of St. Joseph-de-Madawaska, NB and soon to be newborn in October, the first great-grandchild, and Kyle Tardif and his wife Melana of Madawaska; one sister, Lucienne Nelson of Madawaska; a sister-in-law, Thelma Nickerson of Bradenton, FL; many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Norma; his sister, Aliette Sirois; and his brother, Bertrand Dufour.  The family would like to thank the Ridgewood Estates staff for the kind and compassionate care he received.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am on May 11, 2022, at the St. Thomas Aquinas Church.  There will be no visiting hours or receiving line.  Interment will be held at the Parish cemetery immediately following the Mass.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Lajoie Funeral Home.
