Obituary

Grand Isle---Yvon R. Levesque, 68, passed away on February 15, 2011 at a Bangor health care facility with his family by his side. He was born in Grand Isle on June 11, 1942, the son of Abel and Euphemie (Gervais) Levesque. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, post 147 of Madawaska after serving his country for three years in the Army. Once honorably discharged from the army, Yvon came home and worked at Fraser Papers for thirty five years until his retirement in 2003. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Grand Isle Fire Department. He was often seen volunteering his time at the Mizpah, his last project was building the church. Yvon is survived by his loving wife of forty five years, Joan (Cyr) Levesque of Grand Isle; three sons, Allen Levesque of Grand Isle, Steven Levesque also of Grand Isle, and Kevin Levesque and his companion Jessica Caron of Madawaska; three brothers, Ernie Levesque and his wife Edwina of St. David, Donald Levesque of Wethersfield, CT, Gerald Levesque and his wife Ginette of Templeton, MA; Several nieces and nephews. Other then his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Alcide Levesque and his wife Cecilia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2pm on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at the St. Gerard Church in Grand Isle. Family and friends may offer their condolences at the church from 1pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mizpah, P.O. Box 216, Grand Isle, ME 04746.
