August 1, 1945 – July 15, 2025
Fort Kent--- Zoel Morneault, 79, died July 15, 2025, at a Bangor hospital. He was born August 1, 1945, in St. Francois, NB, Canada, a son of the late Aurele and Yvette (Cote) Morneault.
Zoel was the owner and operator of Zoel & Son Sanitary Service for well over 40 years, before his retirement in 2011. He was also a lifelong carpenter and worked in many of the homes in the St. John Valley and beyond. During his earlier years, Zoel worked for International Silver, Meriden, CT, for several years. Zoel loved golfing and was a long-time member of the Fort Kent Country Club. He also loved to ride his motorcycle with his wife. Family was paramount to Zoel and he cherished raising his family and supporting his grandchildren. He always held a strong faith in the church and he and his wife said the rosary every evening. He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus and was on the boards of the Fort Kent Snowmobile Club, Swamp Buck Restaurant, the Fort Kent Main Street Redevelopment.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Thelma (Saucier) Morneault of Fort Kent; two children, Connie Montpetit and her husband Mitch of Presque Isle, and Craig Morneault and his wife Missy of Fort Kent; four grandchildren, PJ (Patience) Bernier, Chass (Dustin) Holland, Maddie and Wil Morneault; four great grandchildren, Emmy Smyth, Hadley Bernier, Madecyn Bouchey, and Noah Holland; four siblings, Yvon Morneault of Canada, Reno Morneault of Connecticut, Nancy (Matt) Quinn of New Hampshire, and Patsy (Rich) Twohill of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Zoel was predeceased by a sister, Guilda Dusseault
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, July 28, 2025 at St. Louis Church, Fort Kent. Relatives and friends may greet the family Sunday evening 6-8:00 PM at Lajoie-Daigle Funeral Home, 14 E. Main St., Fort Kent. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
